How could dreams be random firings of neurons when they tell a story?

Posted by admin on 18th, 2009

They form a storyline and make connections in the brain- sometimes they make sense. If it was just random firings of neurons then wouldn’t it just be flashes of random things and not connect in any way?

Some dreams are like that but what about the ones that piece together a story?

Have you ever "free written", where you just write what ever comes to mind for a short period of say 2 minutes or even 10 minutes if you are familiar with the process?

You just let your mind wander and write whatever comes to it.

That is what your subconscious mind is doing, just "free writing". Perhaps it is picking up on subjects that concern you, topical subjects, or maybe they are metaphors. Or maybe they are nothing but "free writing".

Paul McCartney woke in the middle of the night with the song "Yesterday" almost completely written by his subconscious mind while he slept. It became the biggest selling song in history because thousands of people have recorded it in every language over the last 40 years. Some people keep notebooks next to their bed, and when they wake up, they write down whatever they can remember, because they know the subconscious mind is not random at all. It may not make sense until you can put things together. As I said, it may be entirely metaphorical.

But it certainly is not random.

You will have to put it togther. Many dreams are about what is going on in your life. It is random images that don’t make since, but if you write it down and think about what is going on right now in your life, what happened that day before you went to bed, you will find out it does make alot of since.

Many would say that some dreams are gifts from God…others would say that dreams are our brains processing material from the day or problems that have gone un dealt with. Nobody knows for sure, that’ss what makes dreams so amazing.

You’re thoughts are pieced together like this, when you think of computers maybe you think of a mouse its all relative. Dreams can come from experiences your currently going through in life or things you worry about whatever it is whoevers in them you’ve seen the faces and the objects before whether subconsciously or subconsciously

I don’t think dreams are random at all.

They always have to deal with what is going on in my life at the moment, either symbolically or exactly.

I think they are your brain’s way of processing and working through things. We are very complex beings, isn’t that wonderful?

Dreams are not random firing of neurons. Dreams are receptions of the different dimensions of reality being received by your brain like an am radio antena. The dimensions are frequencies and your brain tunes them in for a vision of what could be. Sometimes the frequencies overlap and the visions are confused. Other times your brain tunes in to receive just one frequency that form visions that have storylines and connections. This is just my idea of what dreams are.
