Tree of Life
Our humble origins.

The secrets of sleep. All of the documentary is here, it just ends abruptly, and I just cut out the part where they say “In next weeks programme we will be investigating these claims”. For next weeks programme, see some of my more recent videos on this subject.
The drug that causes dreams is now known to be a tryptamine derivative, most likely DMT or other similar chemicals.
Research into DMT or other similar endogenous drugs causing dreams has been made hard by anti drug laws and govenment pressure.
Quote from University of California, Berkeley, http://sulcus.berkeley.edu/mcb/165_001/papers/manuscripts/_794.html
“The striking similarity of entheogenic experiences to dream experiences tempts us to seek answers as to whether the benefits of dreaming are potentially linked to the benefits of entheogens. The molecular action of visions produced by dreaming is quite possibly very similar to visions produced by entheogenic drugs. Carefully designed research could lend great insight into the mystery of dreaming, the potential therapeutic value of entheogens, and the potential for neurochemical advances.”
conclusion;
“Entheogenic drugs and dreams alike have a special place in the evolution of humankind and its value systems. Profound musical inspirations and scientific discoveries of the past century have even been inspired by them. Our ancestors religious views and values were influenced by their faith in visions communicated by entheogenic drugs and dreams. In an age of environmental destruction and moral erosion, the knowledge afforded by dream and entheogen induced visions could not be more valuable. Let us hope that our culture is fortunate enough to open our minds and build on the mysteries our ancestors have explored for ages.”

“The visions of dream sleep are suggested to occur through a dream mechanism which implicates tryptamine derivatives as endogenous paychedelics. The hallucinations that occur in some schizophrenic syndromes are also proposed to occur through a similar, though desynchronized, mechanism. These compounds occur in the human pineal gland and are regarded as neurotransmitters or neuroregulators. A protocol for experimental verification is suggested.”

“Dr. Rick Strassman, while conducting DMT research in the 1990s at the University of New Mexico, advanced the theory that a massive release of DMT from the pineal gland prior to death or near death was the cause of the near death experience (NDE) phenomenon. Several of his test subjects reported NDE-like audio or visual hallucinations. His explanation for this was the possible lack of panic involved in the clinical setting and possible dosage differences between those administered and those encountered in actual NDE cases.
From a researcher’s perspective, perhaps best known is Rick Strassman’s DMT: The Spirit Molecule (ISBN 0-89281-927-8)”

Horizon looks at how to stay healthy, active and live long (Living to 101). A scientific review on the logevity hotspots of the planet. Genes vs. attitude, what defines health and ultimately a long life (Part 2 of 5).
Okinawa, Japan (continued) has an over 4 times higher concentration of centenarians than any other part of the world. Okinawans age slower, cultural nutrition habits, caloric restriction, evolutionary famine survival.
Ovodda, Sardinia, a longevity hotspot that is not a result of diet. An inherited genetic trait, with unique characteristics.

Introduction. Okinawa, Japan has an over 4 times higher concentration of centenarians than in Britain, or USA. Okinawans age slower, DHEA, the rainbow diet, soya protein.

Ovodda, Sardinia (continued), a longevity hotspot that is not a result of diet. A faulty gene on the X-chromosome that produces an Enzyme (G6PD), results in an increased resistance to diseases such as malaria, but its role in longevity is still poorly understood.
Loma Linda, California. Longevity in California partly due to exercise, nutrition and belief. Evidence in e.g. Adventists reveals lower levels of stressors. Coping with stress is the one only factor linking the worlds longest living communities together.
Okinawa, Japan. Stress resistant personalities are an integral part of this society and their culture.

Okinawa, Japan (continued). Stress resistant personalities & finding a purpose to the day helps promote a healthier, longer life.
Glasgow, Scotland. Shows a makedly reduced life expectancy that is not explained by the classical risk factors.
Crowded living conditions during the industrial period caused increased levels of infections, leading the population to develop hightened immune defences (inflammatory response). This helped the population survive infections, but later in life is responsible for hightened inflammatory related diseases.
